INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Public Relations Internship
Openings: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall
Internship Description: Fantastic exposure to public relations industry and opportunity to work at a leading Long Island based public relations firm. The professionals at the firm offer solid PR-related training and career advice. Interns are not gofers and coffee-getters. They are expected to perform like entry-level account executives. Responsibilities include drafting press releases and newsletter articles, communicating with television and print media, planning and managing special events for business and not-for-profit organizations, supporting the development and execution of promotional campaigns, developing marketing materials, conducting research, interacting directly with clients and much more.
Requirements: Must be at least a second-semester sophomore or junior. Preferred students will be pursuing degrees in public relations, journalism, English, communications, business, marketing, advertising or political science. Interns must have solid computer skills, knowledge of MS Word, Excel and the Internet. Must be able to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Interns are required to work a minimum of 25 hours per week but 40 hours a week is preferred. Students must committ to work at least 6 weeks preferably the entire semester or summer break. Students must be seeking college credit to be eligible for this internship program.
Upon acceptance of the offer to participate in the internship program the student and student's advisor and department head must sign an agreement with Corbett Public Relations that the student and institution agreed to participate in the program and that the student will not take any other internship paid or unpaid after the agreement has been signed.
